Melisa Bertossi is a saxophone player and composer. Born in Argentina, she currently resides in Barcelona, Spain. Melisa leads her own band, which just released “Strange Feather”, exploring the fields of contemporary jazz, pseudo-samba, free-jazz, improvised music, and altern ative genres. She is a member of the Big Pocket Orchestra, the group Primordial 6tet led by pianist Mariano Camarasa, drummer Joao Vieira's contemporary jazz band, sax and piano duo Bertossi & Muñoz, and funk-boogaloo trio Groovaloo. She colaborates with avant-garde group Discordian Community Ensemble, with the Big Electric Orchestra directed by saxofonist Claudio Marrero Santana, with guitarist Ignacio Cacace's band KKC Nou Quintet, and coordinates the sunday Vortex Jazz Jam Sessions at the venue Sinestesia. Melisa studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (The Netherlands), and moved to
New York City upon graduation. She also lived in Berlin, Boston and South Australia, taking private lessons with the world’s best musicians and teachers. As an intense and rich life experience, she is always exploring, searching and learning music.
